NY Climate Week 2025
Leveraging 30x30 to Protect Oceans, Forests, and Indigenous and Local Community Territories from Extractive Industries
NY Climate Week Event 2025
This event is designed to support greater cohesion for advancing efforts to support the success of Target 3 of the Kunming-Montreal Global Biodiversity Framework (GBF). Some themes for exploration during these interactive sessions will include securing needed financing, removing fossil fuel and industrial concessions overlapping with vital ecosystems and IP&LC territories, advocacy strategies, global narratives, and more. Participants will explore movement gaps and needs, policy intervention opportunities and other strategies that require urgent coordination, investment and scaling.
In two sequential sessions covering marine and terrestrial zones, we are convening Indigenous people’s leaders, experts, policymakers and advocates to support greater cohesion to advance scientific, conservation, advocacy, finance, legal, policy, and frontline strategies for achieving GBF Target 3.

6:30pm discussion ends, with reception to follow
