Earth Insight and partners are launching a new report analyzing and visualising the threats posed by future offshore fossil fuel projects across the pantropic belt to frontier biodiversity hotspots and coastal communities.

The Ocean Frontiers at Risk Report examines the global expansion of offshore oil and gas exploration and its profound threats to marine ecosystems, biodiversity, and the livelihoods of coastal communities. Despite urgent calls to meet global climate goals, governments and companies are investing trillions of dollars in new fossil fuel developments.

Many of these developments are taking place in frontier regions: underexplored areas with significant untapped potential for oil, gas or LNG development. This report highlights 11 case studies across the globe in some of these new frontiers, illustrating the risks posed by these projects and the growing resistance from frontline communities and environmental organizations.
